The monkey art pieces are on show during the Year of the Monkey Exhibition, 6-21 February, in Parnell art galleries and several jewellery and décor stores.
The exhibition is primarily along Parnell Road with a ‘mini’ monkey sanctuary on The Strand in Matisse and the E & H Building complex.
The 28 artists and celebrities that have added their creative genius to each of the monkey art pieces are well-known New Zealand and internationally recognised artists, as well as a few celebrities of local and international fame. Their inspirations in creating their monkeys tell a story in themselves as each piece has taken on its own personality.
All of the monkeys will be auctioned for a well deserving charity, with profits of the auction in 2016 going toThe Starship Foundation National Air Ambulance Service.
